Qualifications I have attained the NVQ3 in Child Care Learning and Development, and all staff are qualified in Early Years First Aid. We have attended and passed courses in basic food hygiene. I have attended courses on safeguarding children and birth to three matters and on how to apply the new EYFS curriculum, also courses on ESCAL (Every Sheffield Child Articulate and Literate by age 11) We have been approved by OFSTED to provide Child minding services from my home. My OFSTED registered number will be made available to parents when contracts are signed. Equipment and Play We have a wide variety of toys and equipment to suit various ages and stages of development. These include outside toys such as footballs, skipping ropes, bats and balls. Indoor equipment such as jigsaws, board games, play food, lycra, soft balls and a wide range of craft materials. Equipment is checked regularly and replaced as necessary. Children enjoy helping adults and are actively encouraged to prepare there own snacks help prepare meals etc. As adults we forget the excitement and pleasure children obtain from washing pots, sweeping floors and tidying up. When in the mood!. Time at out of school club will include structured activities such as crafts, painting and drawing , cooking, story time, singing and music as well as time set aside for the children to choose what they would like to do.
Outing and Visits We believe children learn a lot and should spend plenty of time outdoors to give them room for more physical activities. We use the schools outdoor facilities for outdoor play everyday after school, weather permitting, when time permits we also go on trips to the local park.
Food and Snacks The cost of snacks is included in the hourly rate we charge for childcare. If your child requires their dinner/ tea whilst with us I ask that you provide this. We are happy to heat up any meals you provide. We have experience of catering to special diets. Any special requirements will be discussed at the initial interview. After school snack is provided as and when the children require it. If we are having outdoor play we always take a good choice of fruit with us and water to drink as some children are hungry as soon as they come out of school, others prefer to wait until later. The snacks will mainly include:- Fruit /Toast occasionally biscuits or buns that the children have made and usually decorated. Breakfast consists of a choice of cereals and fruit. Drinks are freely available at all times. The menu listed above is not comprehensive but a sample of what will be available to the children, I actively discourage the children from having too many sweet/ high fat snacks and gradually try to introduce them to the skills and pleasures of preparing their own food and snacks. Parents are welcome to provide their own food if they wish however I would ask that a healthy diet is provided for the children. The children help at mealtimes, they help prepare food, set the table and clear away after themselves, children often enjoy their food far better when they have cooked it or been involved in the preparation of their food.
Visits We always meet with parents and children as many times as they feel necessary. I like you to meet with all members of my staff, spend some time at the clubs and discuss details and ask questions before deciding if the arrangement meets mutual consent. I use Morton Michel contracts that all parents/ carers are required to complete. I also use a retainer system if a place is available, but not required until a later date. Childcare is available by arrangement during the retainer period. In some circumstances a deposit may be taken for a place, but does not guarantee a place.
Drop Off and Collection Time Drop off time is a very important time of day when we like to be able to spend a few minutes with the parents and children, so that we are made aware of anything we may need to know. ie: your child has had a disturbed night and may be more tired than usual. Something has happened that morning that may have upset them. Collection time is equally as important and again we like to be able to spend a few minutes telling you what has happened during your child's time with us, however we would be grateful if this could be kept to no longer than ten minutes. This gives enough time for us to make you aware of anything that has happened during the day that you may need to know about. By the time it gets to evening everybody has had a long work day and we all want to be able to spend the evening enjoying our own family time. If I or you feel the need to discuss anything that requires a longer amount of time then we are happy to arrange a mutually convenient time to call you or speak to you on the phone this then stops things from being rushed.
Fees and Child Care Hours Available Payments are made one week/ or monthly in advance on 1st of the month for monthly payments and on the Friday before for weekly payments preferably by bank transfer or child care vouchers. I do accept cash and cheques. Overtime, extra hours and charges for late pick ups are settled at the time they are used. Fees are £5.12 per hour inclusive of snacks and drinks. I also charge if a child is sick or on holiday. However holidays of one week or longer will be charged at 50% of your child’s fees for the period of the holiday. If payment is late then a £10.00 a day charge may be added. The club offers wrap around care. Monday to Friday before and after school care only during term time. Breakfast Club runs from 7.30am. After School Club runs from 3.00pm-6.00pm. I do provide holiday care but numbers are limited.
Fees for Late Pickups. If a child is collected late from club the following scale of charges will apply. I allow a 15 minute grace period for unforseen hold ups. 15-30 Minutes Will incur a charge of £5.00 per child. 30-45 Minutes Will incur a charge of £7.50 per child. 45-60 Minutes Will incur a charge of £10.00 per child. 60 Minutes onwards will incur a charge of £10.00 per hour or part hour per child. I do appreciate that extenuating circumstances can occur and a pre-arranged late pick up would be charged at normal rate. I class a pre-arranged late pick up as a minimum of 2 hours in advance. I would like to stress it is important that parents let me know if they are going to be late. Children soon become used to being collected at a certain time and may easily become distressed if no one arrives to collect them, this is made easier if I know when the parents/ carers will arrive to collect the child.
Sickness A sickness policy is in place. To reduce the spread of infection please do not allow your child to attend until your child has fully recovered. If your child is on any medication, has any allergies or a medical condition please inform me at the initial interview so that we are aware. If your child needs medication administered to them during their time in our care you will need to complete a medication permission slip. If your child becomes ill whilst during our care you will be informed immediately and asked to collect your child as soon as possible.
Child Protection Policy (Safeguarding children) It is a legal requirement that we report any suspected cases of child abuse to the relevant authorities, as a result we have a Safeguarding children policy in place detailing how we would handle any cases of suspected child abuse, we require that parents/ carers read and sign to say that they understand and agree with the policy, a copy of the policy will be given in the information we give out at your initial visit.
Permission Forms and Contracts. If you decide that you would like us to care of your child we will require a contract to be completed and various permission forms to be signed, If at the contract meeting there is anything you are not happy to sign please let us know and we will discuss alternatives.
